WIND MITIGATION – SAVE ON INSURANCE

Presenting this report to your insurance company will likely save you significant money on the cost of your insurance policy. This report verifies the protections that you have against hurricane-force winds – and the state requires that the insurance policy offer discounts to account for each level of protection…. of course over time as you add to your property with items such as impact windows, new shutters, new roofs, etc. – this document will be updated and re-submitted to account for upgraded mitigation credits

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN A WIND MITIGATION INSPECTION

Our Wind Mitigation reports are digitally composed onto document OIR-B1-1802, otherwise known as the Uniform Mitigation Verification Inspection Form. This form is universally accepted by all major carriers in order to apply credits for your wind mitigation features.

BUILDING CODE & ROOF COVERING

We verify and document the building code associated with the property – FBC 2001, SFBC-94 etc. We also verify and document the type, approval, compliance and year of installation of the properties roof covering.

ROOF DECK ATTACHMENT

For this section we spend some time in your property’s attic, and utilizing state of the art scanners, we determine the nailing pattern of the roof deck to the truss/rafter, and the spacing pattern used between each nail. We also determine the sheathing build material and thickness and the size of the nail used in the attachment.

Z

ROOF TO WALL ATTACHMENT

Your inspector will be making their way through the attic to the point in which your roof meets your exterior walls. Here, we will verify and document exactly how your roof is attached to your wall.

Z

ROOF GEOMETRY

Your roof shape matters when it comes to wind mitigation, and we will determine the type of roof geometry that exists on the property as it relates to the wind mitigation features.

Z

SECONDARY WATER RESISTANCE

We will be determining if the roof deck has been sealed prior to the covering installation.

Z

OPENING PROTECTION

This is the point where we will inspect, verify, and document all of the property’s openings for code-approved protections, installations, and coverings.
